The Met Gala is truly the most extravagant fashion event held in support of Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute. It sounds insane, but it draws attention to the fashion industry since 1946 by celebrating each year one certain theme that guests should follow. This year the theme of Institute’s exhibition was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology”, so it was obvious we would see something futuristic.
Celebrities’ attire was rather impressive and highlighted the theme of high technologies with silvery dresses, butterflies in hair, latex and other chic and shiny details. However, most of the beauty looks were classic or natural in contrast with startling clothes. The majority of celebrities preferred brown smokeys, windged eyeliners, red lipsticks and other old proven techniques, but there were a few looks that were especially bold. I’m not saying that classic or natural looks are somewhat stuffed on edge, because that’s why they’re called classic – they’re timeless. But it’s good to know that some celebrities like Jemima Kirke with her crimson smokey or Poppy Delevingne with bold dark lipstick, Kristen Stewart with futuristic silvery eyeshadows or Katy Perry with dazzling blue eyelashes aren’t afraid of experimenting with their looks. Each year celebrities provide enough gorgeous beauty inspiration to us, showing how they chose dresses and makeup to suit the theme, and this year is no different. We’ve gathered some of the most evocative beauty looks from 2016 Met Gala so that you could evaluate whether they suit the theme or not.
