Summer is my favorite time, full of breeze, sunlight and the time of vacations but makeup in the summer can become a problem – it can melt, smear or stick, that what we don’t want. How to makeup in the summer so that your makeup could withstand the heat? Here are some tips.
- Start with a proper base. Wash your face and do not skimp on skincare, because your foundation needs a good surface to apply. Use oil-free moisturizers.
- Primer is everything. After your skin care apply an SPF-infused primer because it will keep your pores clean, will help makeup last longer and will give you sun protection, which is essential in the summer. Your skin will also look much smoother with it.
- Bronze believably. Apply bronzer just to the high points of your face, where the sun naturally hits you: forehead, cheekbones, chin, and nose. You can also sweep a little bronzer onto your neck and earlobes, especially if you have short hair or are wearing a ponytail.
- Less is more. Summertime is the season to avoid super-heavy makeup, favoring a lighter look and feel. Makeup likes to move around when it’s hot, so the best way to avoid that is to wear less of it.
- Skip the shimmer. Avoid cream foundations or anything too luminous, as the humidity will make you extra shiny and sweaty-looking.
- Go sheer. Switch to sheer versions of your go-to lip and eye colors because rich colors may seem too heavy.
- For longer-lasting shadow, avoid using eye cream on your lids (it can break down makeup), and smooth on an eye primer instead.
- When it comes to blush, a cream or gel product stays put longer — and appears more smooth and even than powder, then blend a touch of a cream blush on top of it. It’s also easier to reapply when skin is hot or damp.
- To eliminate unsightly shine in seconds, nothing beats blotting papers. If you need to perk up your makeup too, blot first, then follow up with a pressed powder with a hint of luminescence.
- Lip stains offer sheer coverage that can be built up, making them super versatile. Try sweet pink or peach shades for a traditional summery look, or go bold with tangerine and grape colors for something more daring.
- Go waterproof. Summer frequently means sweating, swimming or even happy tears, so invest into a good waterproof mascara or just get your eyelashes tinted. Waterproof eyeliners and pencils are another great idea.
- Seal the deal. After your makeup is on, help keep things in place by using a great setting spray.
- Hands off. The more you touch and fiddle with your face, the more likely you are to rub your makeup off.
- Keep prep items in your purse. Never look oily in a photo again by staying prepared with purse-size products that are so perfect for travel.
